KC Spectacular

Our fabric was featured in the Kansas City Star summer spectacular last Sunday! Thanks KC Star and the very lovely Stacy Downs!

You’re invited to a Summer Spectacular (in your own backyard)

Chillaxin’ is our new favorite verb. That’s because we’re definitely ready for the sweet slowdown of summer.

House + Home is giving you the inside scoop of ice cream on savoring the season at home, including cheap thrills, new goods and splashes of advice. No plane ticket necessary because there’s fun to be had from the front porch to the backyard and all the spaces in between.

Yes, we have your (sunscreened) back. So plop into your favorite rocking chair, plunge into this guide and chillax all summer long.

Read the rest Here and see more fun summer spectacular pics!

Dirty Laundry

Look at what a sweet blog our friend Jeanee from Dirtylaundry wrote about our Fabric Fest and store! Of course, Jeanee will be joining us at the Fabric Fest, so that would be a great time for you all to come meet her!

Style me Pretty has been full of goodness this week. I am especially taken by the hair in the top photos. (I heart big hair) And isn't the dress in the bottom pics the most perfect tulle creation ever? I would love to float around in it!

Hot air balloon..

Here is our new window, finally finished and installed! Isn't it happy? Kudos to e for the balloon!
Now I have to redo the inside of the store. I have ideas I want to do, but it is so gray and gloomy it is hard for me to bring up the energy. But it will be done!

Blithe Gardens Terrariums

You know our adorable terrariums by local designer Blithe Gardens? Well, Congrats to her because she was featured on Good Morning America!! Hooray for her! Watch it here..

Talking Squid

We received some adorable stuff from Talking Squid this week. Everything is made out of recycle tshirts, and it is super cute. I especially liked the headbands (as you can see, I immediately had to try it on!) And the tiny flower rings are awesome too...

Hey! There is my new dress I made out of our Paris fabric! I used a vintage pattern and I like it so much, you can expect to see me in the same style, different fabrics all summer!

Bunny Blossom Tree

Look at this adorable print from the V&A-- cherry blossom tree? No, bunny blossoms, of course!

By the way, lovely Megan from Eat.Shop guide sent me our spread yesterday so I could see it! I could show it to you, but I'm going to wait--isn't suspense fun?

baggies

I got a wild hair yesterday to start making little muslin baggies for vegetables at the grocery store. I've actually been meaning to do it for, oh I don't know, 1 year? ish. Anyway I'm going to finish them up this morning but in the meantime I'm going to leave you with this lovely picture..isn't that a sweet cake?

Thanks Flush Designs!

eat. shop. bon bon

So, guess what is shipping out today and winging it's way to our store? The brand-spanking-new Kansas City Eat. Shop Guide! And guess who is in it? Us! Hooray! When I ordered our books yesterday (along with Paris, London, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans & some other city I can't remember at the moment) she said she really liked our spread. Our Spread--what does that mean? A wee blurb? More than a wee blurb? Pictures? An entire chapter devoted to us? (Alright, maybe that is hoping for too much!) I don't know, but I can't wait to see!!

project 2

This project is not quite done yet, but will be soon--in fact, it will be our new window display! I can't wait until we have to figure out a way to hang it--I suppose we'll figure it out eventually. So, did I ever tell you how handy it is to be in business with someone who can make anything? Say for instance, I said--Hey E, can you make me a hot air balloon for the window? and she does. If you have a business, I highly recommend you find your crafty E. It makes things so much easier! I was especially impressed by the woven basket.

Project 1

Today I thought I would show you 2 projects that E and I have finished/almost finished! The first is this skirt I made out of one of our patterns. I was really excited about my new skirt until I realized that I should put it in the store to show as an example. There goes my new skirt. Sigh. However, it was super easy to make, so I guess I could make another one. Or just steal this one back after a week. Hmmm....
