So, I know I should be waiting with bated breath to see what everyone will be wearing next spring--but that seems so far away! So instead I was searching vintage-y things online (in honor of e & I's trip to the vintage show in Chicago this weekend!) and I found these 50's inspired wedding dresses by Stephanie James. How cute are these? And you can customize them as well, in case you say, want a big red tulle underskirt with your white dress!

Spring 09

So fashion week has begun in New York and although I debated with myself this morning whether it was even time to get the fall stuff out, we are already looking forward to Spring/Summer 09. Where does the time go? Anyway, here are some shots of Marc Jacobs line, which was lovely. I liked his hobble-esque skirts, vaguely oriental influence and the Poppins-ish hats the models wore. The collection didn't knock me down with excitement, but it definitely had some good pieces and lines.

Obsession...(not the Calvin Klein kind)

I am obsessed. There are images burned in my brain that are never far from my eye and when I see them I want!!They are the knit dresses (and tights) from Rodarte. I could look at them all day. In fact, yesterday I did. I pulled up the pics on their (beautiful) website and stared at the details in the dress trying to figure out if is possible to make something even remotely similar (as I do not have Rodarte in my budget). And the tights, I'm desperate for them. But where could you find such a perfect spiderweb knit that is pre-run?

Is it the delightful knitti-ness of it? Is it the graceful ballerina-esque quality? I don't know--but Oh! Rodarte how you have cast a spell on me!

Lust, lust, lust after the black knit tights and I love the sleeves/neckline.

These two dresses are examples of the perfect tulle/fluff skirt. (especially the shorter one on the left) If there was an encyclopedia entry on short fluffy skirt there should be a picture of these. I love the colors, although I am 95% sure that that particular fleshy tone would look horrendous against my own fleshy tone.

Money Tree!

I wanted to show you what my sister made me for my birthday, a money tree! Not only did she craft a very cute Dr. Suess-like tree, she also origamied little dresses, elephants, hears and butterflies out of money! It is awesome! (My cat Marla liked it as well, until she went Marzilla on it and started attacking it)

holy frijoles, I have been a distracted blogger lately. Sorry! I got a brand new digital camera for my bday (yesterday!) though, so now I'm sure you will all be treated to a million silly pictures I will take!

Until then, I wanted to share with you my new secret love----wedding blogs. In the course of beginning to plan a wedding I thought, I'll check out some blogs, and found the most beautiful DIY wedding sites. It just (once again) shows how amazingly creative people are! Anyway, check out these lovely sites (even if you aren't in the market for wedding things, they are very inspiring) and I'll go take some silly pictures for you!

So, had I known someone was going to come in and take pictures of me yesterday, I probably would have looked 100% better than I did (or at least tried). Also, I would have prepared myself for an interview, so I didn't sound like a dork. However, I didn't know, and here is the result on Pitch.com...

Kaiser Karl – the fashion juggernaut that is Karl Lagerfeld – is late. Three hours late. His publicist asked me not to mention this, because apparently everyone says it, and it makes him seem grand. “Karl is not a snob,” she tells me, as we wait. “Karl has time for everyone, he is very generous, you will see.”

Later, after spending most of the afternoon in his company, I will see. But right now, the grandeur seems undeniable. We are inside his photographic studio in central Paris – his idea because, in between designing couture and ready-to-wear for Chanel, Fendi and his own Karl Lagerfeld brand, which have joint annual revenues of around £3 billion, he is a keen photographer. And even keener to be taken seriously in this medium.

The studio is testament to that. It’s the size of a tennis court. A sofa that seats 30 extends along two walls; there are two high umpire chairs, the type you normally see on Centre Court at Wimbledon, allowing Lagerfeld to direct his six full-time studio assistants. Out back, there is a room for state-of-the-art computers, printers and scanners; one crammed with cameras and lights; and another lined with desks and mirrors for hair and make-up. There are even two beds with pristine white cotton sheets and fluffy pillows, in case jet-lagged models need to take a nap. But the most impressive feature has to be the 60,000-odd books that cover the 18ft-high walls of the main studio, providing both a colourful backdrop and a weighty intellectual air.
