Walkability

According to Walkscore.com, Kansas City ranked 34 out of the 40 most walkable city..and the most walkable neighborhood? (a so-called walker paradise, so called by walkscore.com?) Westport! A 99 out of 100, Hurray! Doesn't it make you want to walk on down here and see what's going on? If you do, stop in and say Hi! I realize you can't see us in the picture..we are on the left side of the street and up a block!

fresher than fresh.

I can't wait for May when my friend Lindsay Laricks opens her Fresher than Fresh traveling snowcone stand for summer! Not only is it an adorable idea, with a hilariously cute little man-logo, but look at that trailer! That was truly a great find! Oh did I mention her snow cone syrups are 100% natural with now weird syrups and feature flavors like Lemon Prickly Pear, Watermelon Basil and Ginger Rose? Yummm..

Red velvet

Look at how gorgeous this cream cheese poundcake with strawberry sauce is. Isn't that red sauce the perfect red color? I wish I had a settee covered in that color velvet. On which I could eat the pound cake..see how it all works together?

Thanks to Smitten Kitchen!

Liberty Spring

I was happy today to feast my eyes on the Liberty spring/summer collection..here are a few beauties for you to look at...
Ianthe wrap skirt
Ianthe shirtwaist dress

Adorable skirt--I love the high waist!
Menswear!
How hilarious are these men's swim trunks and briefs? I totally see a young Sean Connery James Bond in these--he always had on the shortest trunks!

Want a good way to spend an afternoon? Lose yourself in the London Transport Museum website. If I had my way, I would have my walls covered in these beauties!

Here are a few posters for Kew Gardens...
I especially love this one for the Palm Gardens.

Welcome Spring

Isn't this a gorgeous way to usher in Spring? It's Holi, the festival of colors which was held on March 11 in India. Which is just one more reason why I would love to go to India! See more on The Big Picture...

rose-y

Hello wedding shoes! And grocery shopping shoes! In a DIY way of course....

Good Magazine Alert!

Am I the last to know about the new online magazine Antler? A truly eco-friendly magazine, you can only find it online, but it is still a pleasure to look at. Although it could never replace Lula in my magazine-lovin' heart, it sure is lovely....

Sofia Champagne

There is something about champagne in a wee little can that I love. With a straw too--you just can't beat it.

record of record store

Speaking of stores, checkout the Holiday Shop record and camera store from 1950's KC...
Thanks Shorpy!

storefront

You know, there is still a wee little vacant store right next to us that is waiting for a new owner. It's large, super-duper reasonable rent, and in such a cute little section of town. And next to us! We could be neighbors! Just a thought.....

bon bon is a go

In case anyone tried to wander over to the website last week and by some fabric (or anything else for that matter) you might have noticed that we were having server problems that made buying anything impossible. All is well now, so feel free to shop!

garden gnomes

In honor of the fact that this weekend was largely taken up by discussions of my wedding flowers (not really helped by me, as I don't know that much about flowers except that I love them and it would be fun to be surrounded by them all the time) and yesterday J and I spent 5 hours clearing out ivy in our front yard (for a future garden) these pics from Style Me Pretty really seemed to be appropriate. If a bit small.
