TMJ

So, not only did I take last week off from blogging, but also from work. Therefore I'm having a little trouble getting down to brass tacks and working through the long to do list I wrote yesterday. Instead I'm eating rock-hard (but delicious!) pita chips that hurt my jaw, considering taking Aerial Fabrics classes (because how impressive would that be at a party?) and I have made it a personal goal to read this whole blog. Not in a stalkery sort of way, just in a amusing why not sort of way. So, to make up for this poor blog posting I'm putting up a cute pic of a seal from Cuteoverload.

Oh and here is a pic of aerial dancing, in case you didn' t know what it was... That doesn't look hard, does it? Ha!

365 veggie

Although I could never be a proper vegetarian ( I have a deep love of cheeseburgers) I would say that 90% of my monthly intake of food is vegetarian. We rarely cook meat at home, and I am trying to be better at ordering healthier when we go out (instead of "A double with cheese and bacon please!") However sometimes it's hard to find good veggie recipes that aren't overly difficult and at the same time are exciting. But I think my problem is solved! I just spent 20 minutes drooling at the recipes of Fresh365. All vegetarian, all fun and (seemingly) easy! Now I know where to go to make my weekly grocery list!

And take a look at this Apple, Cheddar and Thyme galette--Yum!

V&R

Victor & Rolf's Italian showroom is all upside down. That's pretty awesome even though it makes me a wee bit dizzy to look at...

Thanks Inspirational Styles!

MIA

So, sorry for disappearing all last week, I had high hopes of blogging as usual, but wedding week swept me up and took me away. All for the good of course! Here is one sneaky pic Kdog put up. Anyway, the blog will be back in action this week!

The joys of home ownership..

Pros of home-owning (so far):
Everything is new and shiny
You can do with it what you like
Much more room and more fun layout
You get to buy a bunch of new decoratey stuff (I love new curtains!)
Your fiancee gets to live his dream of buying a Gi-normous bed (to be delivered tomorrow!)

Cons:
Gi-normous bed goes in the bedroom in the basement. Where there is currently a mysterious plumbing/water leakage problem.
No one noticed during any of the many inspections that there were no phone jacks in the house (WTF? how does that even happen?)
We are currently sharing the house with a family of Brown recluse spiders, so we have to give all clothes/towels etc a shake so as not to be bit by killer spiders.

So far pros still outweigh the cons, but really--no phone jacks, how does that even happen? Anyway, I can't find any bedding for the aforementioned ginormous bed we are getting so I'm thinking of doing a duvet out of these two materials..unless anyone has any suggestions?

KISS

So, this morning I entertained myself during breakfast by watching 80's videos on VH-1 Classic. (Hello Walk like an Egyption!) Anyway, with the good came the bad and it was while watching a non-madeup KISS video that I really realized how much makeup is our friend. (Or at least their friend, yikes) Anyway--I think it's time for a trip to Sephora, I'm down to only 6 different lipsticks...

new books!

New books! In the store and (some, soon to be all) Online! Oh, and you have to come see the new stationary we got too...

Nervous Nellie

Oh! I just got a shot of nervousness! Now i'm all flapping hands and pacing. No, it's not about the wedding, it's because in less than a month I get to meet my favorite person ever (that I'm not related to, obviously) Yes, in a mere 27 days I will be in Seattle to (among other things) meet Roger Daltrey at his show. What should I wear??

By the by, for those who don't live in a classic rock world, Roger is the lead singer for my very favorite band The Who...

Countdown begins

So, the wedding brouhaha starts officially in a week. Hmm. I know this is about when people start freaking out, but I'm pretty sure everything is in good order. Well--we don't have the marriage license yet, but there is a whole two weeks still. Besides that, I think we are good. Which probably means I'm forgetting something--any suggestions?

In Other News...

Yes, thank you I would love to have these shoes!

So, I do have to say that our little store has some cute stuff, however I can't think of anything that is as cute as the Alisa Ross mounted head wall hangings she just brought us. I mean, the little mouse? I love the little mouse. We have more of these plush darlings in, so come see them--there is a plushie head waiting to go home with you!

SW restoration colors

So, I've found that picking out the paint is a whole lot more fun than actually painting (ugh! Taping and one, 2, sometimes 3 coats, and dragging a dropcloth around with you...) However the picking out can also be a little overwhelming when you wander up to the color wall at the local paint store. I have to say I was totally taken by the Sherwin Williams preservation palettes.

They have the Suburban Modern, Arts & Crafts, Jazz Age, Streamlined, etc. And since I was looking for more vintage-y colors they helped me out a lot.. and they come in cute little brochures. I'm such a sucker for packaging..

So the Suburban Modern was my fav, but it's quite a bit brighter (all those delicious 50's colors) and I was going for something a little darker for the main rooms. However I'm using the pearl gray on my walls for the sewing room and after the holidays E and I are going all Dorothy Draper on it with super wide pink stripes and chartreuse shelves...
