Lake Retba

Check out Lake Retba in Senegal. Due to it's high salinity it is pink! Apparently it's fine and all totally natural, but it does seem wrong, doesn't it? Super pretty though!

Tabletop Ironing Mat

You know how the ironing board is always on the wrong level of the house? Is that just me? My sewing room is where we keep the board and it's upstairs. The closet however is downstairs and I am far too lazy most days to walk up a whole flight of steps to iron my wrinkly clothes. I just saw this tabletop ironing mat tutorial on Little Birdie Secrets, and I think I'll have to make one. That way I can just carry it around with me wherever I go. I'll just need to strap an iron on my leg as well...

Brie Harrison

I saw a post over on Designsponge on Brie Harrison's new textile design for Winter's Moon, and I fell in love with it. It's called Nasturtium and I'm on fire to own it. I checked out her website and all her prints are as fabulous as nasturtium and you can get them in cards, shoppers or cushions. Mmm, cushions...

Denver Art Museum/Yves St. Laurent exhibit

So, last week the family mosied on over to Colorado for a little vacation. Our first stop was Denver, so we could see the Yves. St Laurent exhibit at the Denver Art Museum.

The Denver Art Museum is HUGE, part of it looks like a castle fortress the other is all geometric sharp shapes. We just saw the Yves exhibit, so we didn't get to delve into the rest of their seemingly extensive collection.

The St. Laurent exhibit is, weirdly, only being displayed in three cities; Paris, Madrid and Denver. How Denver got it, I don't know, but kudos to them! Oh, it was gorgeous and made you want to go home and sew, sew, sew. There were day suits and ball gowns, tuxedos (oh! The tuxedos) and even a recreation of Catherine Deneuve's closet.

We weren't allowed to take pictures in this exhibit, all of following photos were taken by Erica Nikolaidis and you can see more of them over on DesignSponge.

Really, if you are in the Denver area, or are close enough to make a weekend trip, go see this. It's worth the jaunt.

Oh, and don't forget that you can go vote for us at missionsmallbusiness.com to get us the opportunity to win a 250,000.00 grant. We need 250 votes by Friday and you should just go vote if you don't want to hear about it all week...otherwise I'll have to nag you day after day! Just go here, log in through Facebook, search bon bon atelier and hit vote. We would really appreciate it!

Bon bon atelier Grant

Hi all, I know it's been super quiet around here this week but that is because we have been busy working on a grant application. Living Social and Chase are giving away multiple grants for $250,000.00 and boy could we do some really great things for the store with that money.
First though, we need 250 votes by this Friday, just to be considered. We would really appreciate it if you could go to www.missionsmallbusiness.com, click Log-in and vote and search for bon bon atelier....and then hit Vote!

Thank you so much, we really appreciate it!

Back in Action!

We are back from our trip! It is nice to be back, but I already miss vacation. I think I need to win the lottery so I can be on permanent vaca. While we were away all sorts of goodies arrived, including two new Liberty of London prints, a gorgeous silk and 3 really lovely rayon prints from Free Spirit. If you are making some summer dresses, we have fabric for you! They aren't online yet, but will be by the end of the week, I promise!

New bathing suit

So, I've been thinking about getting a new bathing suit. Actually, it's not a new thought, I started pondering it last summer. No, I'm not planning a fabulous beach vacation nor do I have a pool, but the only bathing suit I have is at least 10 years old. I guess I feel like you should have a good one on hand just in case some fabulous beach vacation pops up, right? Always be prepared, that's my motto.

So, do you think I can find one that makes me look like Marilyn Monroe? Or do you think that is setting my goals too high?

Summer Sewing

Are you itching to get some sewing done this summer? Well, we've added a bunch of new classes and workshops...some beginner but quite a few intermediate as well. Even a kids camp in July! Here are some of the classes we'll be teaching, but you can see the whole list on the website.

Liberty of London workshop. You can finally put aside your fear of cutting into your favorite fabric. We'll all do it at the same time...

Hazel Dress workshop. Such a cute dress!

Our favorite apron, the emmeline.

If you haven't made the Multi-tasker tote yet, you are definitely missing out. It's such a fun project!

COATT jewelry

A couple of weeks ago we received some gorgeous new jewelry, but because of the ric rac craziness I never got around to showing it to you. Sorry! Anyway, we are so excited to have COATT morse code jewelry. Using gold dots and dashes each necklace spells out a special word or phrase. Mom, friend, lucky, sister, love me do...the list goes on. The necklaces are strung on a really beautiful thin silk cord and the whole thing is really delicate and lovely. Stop in and see it sometime!

Tula Pink Nightshade

Look who arrived this week, Tula Pink's nightshade! It is gorgeous and I've already started on some projects with it (they are too early to show however, but I will soon!) I will get this on the website soon for you out of towners, I promise. Last night I couldn't because I was at my dress rehearsal for my dance recital. Did I mention the dance recital yet? It's pretty good..I can't wait for you to see pictures. You will have a hearty laugh.
