The Fedex man came today with a lightweight brown box for me. I couldn't think what it could be, since everything currently on order won't be here this week but I was very happy to open the box and see this lovely sight! 12 silk pink flowers to be used in my hair and on my wedding dress (admittedly, I won't use all 12--that seems a bit much, don't you think?) I wasn't 100% sure how they would look, but they are fabulous!

Quilting
So, I've never really thought much about quilts and quilting before. Growing up my mom had quilts all over the house-some to snuggle in some hanging on the wall. Most of them leaned towards the country-ish and while they were pretty, I never really thought one way or the other about them.
Thanks Decor8
However, 2 weeks ago I found out that as a wedding gift my mom's friend is going to make me an Amy Butler quilt, and I got to pick out the fabrics. Doing that stirred a little something in me and seeing these pics has fed the flame. I want to be surrounded by quilts. Look how beautiful they are? What amazing fabrics you can use? Hooray for quilts! Now, the real question is, do I try to make one, or do I leave it to the quilting masters?
Thanks Anna Maria Horner!

Songbird Cafe
I just made myself hungry looking at the menu for the Songbird Cafe. I'm sad to say that I haven't ventured to the cafe yet, but soon! The owner, Courtney, is a super lovely person and not only does she make delicious sandwiches like the Gourmet Grill (with spinach, tomato, may and cheese--yum!) but she also shows local artists in the cafe. Check out more about the Songbird Cafe here!

Shoes..
After hours of tracking them down, I just bought these little babies to wear for my weddin'. They are 8's so they might be a wee big, but I'll live with it. I guess I could always send them back, but I had to get them from England, so that seems like a lot of work. Oh, Irregular Choice, you are awesome!

Yorktown
Look at the yumminess of these bags. We got them in last week and it was all I could do not to steal them away! Carol of Yorktown road makes these lovelies and not only does she sew them but she hand dyes the linen into the richest colors. These babies are only available in the store, so stop by to see them!

TYWD
So, I am in charge of getting donations for an auction that I am helping put together for Thank You Walt Disney, a group here in KC. Sadly, I am not a good donation getter, because I know that when you own a store you get hit up for donations All The Time! So, even though it's for a good cause, I am timid about asking.
What is the cause you ask? Well (very briefly) Walt Disney had his very first studio here in KC, where he was a destitute animator. He started his business here and even had the inspiration for Mickey Mouse here. So, TYWD has bought the building, shored it up, put a new roof on it and now we need $$ to build out the inside so we can make it into an animation education center, museum and cinema. The studio is in a pretty crappy part of town, so it would be cool for those kids to have a (free!) place to go to learn about art and animation.
So, if anyone has anything they would like to donate, or if you live in KC and would like to help out at the event May 30th, let me know!

Pop
Well, I figured since I posted about Pixi beauty, which is run by 2 sisters, I ought to post about Pop beauty, which is run by the 3rd sister. Pop is a little big sparkier than Pixi, as demonstrated by my favorite glitter eye crayons. And look at that beauty cabinet! How awesome is that?
pixi
Ooh, look at this lip gloss pallet from Pixi Beauty. I have to say I do love a pallet, even though there are always colors that get the shaft. I spent a lot of time at Pixi during my time in London and brought back some of the cheek gel for my mom, and have had to order her some ever since. I was very pleased to see it at Target (which now carries Pixi!), so I need to remember to tell her to go stock up. You should too!

color me pretty
Did I ever tell you my weakness for cosmetics? Lipstick is my fav product, followed by glitter eyeliner. Shu Uemura counters are like little bits o' heaven with all of their colors. The makeup is awesome too...
Dinner Party Please
Emily and I just decided we needed to incorporate more fun things in our lives. Like sunny dinners outside, with lovely flowers and perfectly set table. As opposed to eating in front of the TV.

Kitchen
So, I have been toying with the idea of Cath Kidston-ing up my kitchen in blue, white and red. Then I saw this wallpaper and I yelled "aahh, I want that!" in my head. (as there was no one here to say it aloud to) I can't wallpaper my kitchen, because we are renting, but if I could....

Here are some new throw pillows we got in the store by local designer Sodapop. The front/flower are wool felt, with a fun fabric print on the back. Check out the other colors on our website!
