Vacation!
Things are going to be pretty quiet around here for a couple of weeks, as E is moving out to the country and J and I will be enjoying the sunny skies of California. The store will be open as usual of course, except for New Year's Day. Enjoy your New Year's, and we will reconvene in 2013.

Stof Stockings
Thanks everyone for your kind words about our store closing. We are sad too, but are grateful for getting the six years that we had. We still have about 6 weeks before we are officially closed though, so we are going to enjoy every minute of it!
In other, happier news, look what our lovely customer Sarah made from the Stof linen. Aren't they fantastic? I was really impressed by them and a little jealous that I didn't think of it myself, of well, it doesn't mean I can't make some for my home, does it?

bon bon atelier Store closing
Well, there is good news, and bad news. The good news is that today is Emily's Birthday, and we are spending the day in celebration! The bad news is that we are sad to announce the closing of bon bon atelier after 6 wonderful years of business.
We have loved getting to know all of our lovely customers but it is time for us to move on to greener pastures (literally in Emily's case, as she just bought a farm-ette). We will be open through the end of January and hope we will see you all before we close our doors.
A store closing does, of course, mean one exciting thing...a store closing sale! We are starting ours today with 20% off which will run through the end of this year. (A perfect time to buy for Christmas!) We will keep you updated with more specials and events we are planning through the next month.
Thanks for all your support over the years,
Love,
Betsy & Emily

The Makerie Sewing Retreat
Did you see that the Makerie is hosting a sewing retreat in April? As if their classic crafting retreats aren't enough to make you jump on a plane, now I'm being tempted by a sewing centered retreat! The classes look phenomenal and I am so jealous of those who get to attend. Also, the fact that it is in Boulder, CO makes it even more tempting, as Boulder is one of my favorite places to visit. Well, let's see how the holidays go, maybe Santa will bring me a retreat in my stocking!
Book Sale!
We are having a book sale this Saturday, 20% off all titles. So, whether you are looking for for a little inspiration or instruction, we have it for you!

Los Angeles
J and I just realized that our trip to Los Angeles is coming up in a flash! And although this is highly unusual for me, I don't have much planned for it. Except, that by hook or by crook I will eat at this gorgeous coffee shop in the Beverly Hills Hilton. Banana leaves! Pink and green! Original bar seats from the 1950's. So glamorous.
I know some of you lovely readers live out in LA, so if you have anything to suggest, please do! We like to eat, shop and see fun things. Does that narrow it down for you? Vintage store recommendations are always appreciated, as are record stores.

Lauren Alison Designs
I had big plans to show you pictures of my house all gussied up for the holidays, but yesterday I officially got sick, and officially had no interest in traipsing about the house trying to get a decent picture. I realized this morning however, that I don't think I've given one of our new vendors, Lauren Alison her due, so you get to see what she's been working on instead.
She does such amazing work. All of her items area silk screened by her onto a gorgeous cream linen. She does pillows of course, but also introduced the lovely holiday notecards into the mix this year. And my favorite, her snowflake table runner and advent calendar pillow. The picture at the bottom is one of my favorite corners of the store. It's just so festive!
Ooh, and she has stockings, which you can kind of see in the bottom photo. But you can see them better in the store!
Oh, and if I have already posted images of her work, sorry, I'm still a little fuzzy. But it's always enjoyable to see pretty things, right?
