Glitter shoes

Here is a question for you, have any of you glittered shoes before? I assume all you need is some spray glue, glitter and a dream, but I haven't done it, so who knows. What I do know is that I have an extra pair of tap shoes and a whole lot of glitter. My main tap shoes are a plain black heel pair, but I still have my patent flats from when I was in high school, and I think it's time to glitter them. Any advice would be welcome.

Also, what color should I glitter? It seems that silver, gold and red are already available. Do I go pink, green or even purple?? What would you do?

If they are patent, I would rough it up with some fine and paper... then spray glue, and a sheen sealant... also, I would go to a shoe store and see if they have a cardboard insert to keep as much out of the insole as possible... I wanna try this, now! :-)

I glittered some shoes red for Halloween many years ago (Dorothy), and I was finding red glitter all over my house for YEARS afterward. All I did was brush on glue and shake on the glitter. I imagine a sealer would be helpful!

(agree with a fine sanding first) then I think you will be most happy if the glitter matches the undercoat, so spray on your color first if you plan to try a glitter color different from the shoe. Try using modpodge as the glue because it is flexible, then maybe spray them with a clear sealer after you sprinkle on the glitter.

Sandpaper is probably a good way forward. I think a sealer would be a good idea as well, although, I'm happy to shake of glitter with every step I take! I'm still deciding on color, but I'm leaning towards purple. Pics to come when they are finished!
