Russian Galliano
See, if I had those Valenki boots I would feel all Russian/Galliano/Fall 09 RTW. And I would like to feel that way all the time. Granted, I would be wearing big clunky felt boots instead of super high platforms, but, it's all in the feeling isn't it?
I would really like to know how it feels to own this coat, but I think that might have to wait...

Valenki boots
So, I was doing some snowboot research, since I am trying to walk to work. Which is all well and good until it's freezing cold and my feet are wet and I'm trying to slog through the snow--hence the need for boots. Anyway, during my research I found out something important...snowboots are ugly. Ick. Boring.
But then I found these Russian Valenki felt boots, which are not only supposed to be the warmest boot ever (After all, Russia knows cold weather) but I think they are super cute. Granted the valenki itself is not waterproof, so then you put them with rubber clogs and, I don't know, I just thought they were super cute!
I mean, not as mind-blowing as the pink snow boots I had in elementary school that had ice cream cones on the side that changed color with the weather--but still cute.
Man, wouldn't this be cool to get for a certain upcoming holiday?

Pantone purples
I'll be spending the weekend lounging in my basement bedroom trying to figure out the right shade of purple to paint it. I like this light one--I guess I should considering it's the color of my store. Oh paint, why are you so difficult??
As a side note, round of applause to whomever made these valances---they are so good. Perfect, in fact...
Thanks CitySage!

Ric Rac fun
Ric Rac is fun...it's pretty on it's own
It's awesome on shoes (Irregular Choice?)
And super adorable cute on skirts (by the way, if someone was reading this who wanted to get me a present for an upcoming holiday a cute skirt from madewithlovebyhannah might be just the ticket)
But the most ric rac fun (and be thankful this is the last time I will say it..until summer) is at the Ric Rac Roundup which is going on tonight!!
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Thanksgiving: Turkey, pie, Fantastic Mr Fox. I have been waiting forever for this movie to come out! I mean, Wes Anderson doing Roald Dahl? With stop-motion animation? There is a 80% chance my head might explode with excitement.
As a side note, I have all Roald Dahl's books. But I think it's time for a confession. I totally stole my FMF copy from my school. I took it, read it, and "forgot" to return it. Sorry PORTA students who could be enveloped in a fabulous book, I guess you'll just have to see the movie..

national velvet
Since we seem to have classic movie theme going, I just want to point you over to Designsponge where they have a "living in" segment for National Velvet...and since, I think it is safe to say, we would all like to be tiny Elizabeth Taylors living in England and riding horses, I thought this was a great post!
Now excuse me while I go find my riding boots..

Mogambo
So, are you thinking of going on safari? Oh, you were? Great! Let me just show you what you should wear as modeled by Grace Kelly and Ava Gardner in Mogambo. Because when you are in the wilds of Africa, you really must have the perfect dress.
Check out the Mogambo trailer for more safari inspirations, and some perfectly inspired pants on Ava Gardner...

Giant Feathers!
So, I've been putting off the holiday spirit. After all, it's not even Thanksgiving yet! But then, with the mere dusting of snow this morning, my lust for all things White Christmas bubbled to the surface. While this is probably one of my very favorite movies, I do save it for the holiday season, so I don't see it all that often. But, it's a good one, with awesome costumes.
I found this clip for you all to watch, especially E!

Kitty in the house...
I read this story over on sfgirlbybay, and it made me think of the little black and white kitty that seems to have come with our house. He seems pretty happy running around the neighborhood (but near such a busy street! careful kitty!!) and he enjoys sitting on the chairs on our porch and talking to our cat through the window. But I worry now that it's getting colder. And then J gives me a "don't even think about it!" look, and then a strict "it doesn't come inside!" --so he's all strict right? but I came home the other day to find a hoodie/old clothes pile put artfully together. When I asked what it was for he said" Well, if you're so worried about that cat during the winter I thought we could put this out there for him to sleep in--but that's it!"
I would wager that if we were to let the kitty inside, although I would be blamed, J would be the one who opened the door!
Isn't this a sweet kitty Anna has?

Meat Hand!
Sorry the blog is a little slow this week--being out of town + furiously working on holiday decorations for the store = not so much blogging time. Anyway, I just found this meatloaf that a lady did for Halloween and it is so gross and yet so awesome that I felt like I had to share it with you. I think it's the fingernails that really freak me out..
