Since we are in the midst of looking for houses, of course the thought of kitchens and redecorating has come up. I really like the look of open shelving (like this awesome kitchen found on Decor8) but I often wonder if it is a pain to keep clean...anyone have thoughts?

I have a few friends with beautiful open shelves that I envy. I say go for it!
You'd need to wipe them ever so often, but if they aren't too close to the stove it should be cool.
