The Woodland

So, when you tell someone that you are going to Austin, you will get a list of 40 restaurants that you need to visit. Which is a little overwhelming when you are only going to be there for 5 days. We arrived late afternoon on Thursday, got settled and wandered down to South Congress. (Stores! Restaurants! Vintage cars!)

Eventually it came time for dinner. It wasn't our best hour...we were sleepy, hungry and totally indecisive. Which is when we wandered into The Woodland. The Woodland is so soothing. It was cool and full of delicious food. We fell in love with the decor, especially the use of so many greens. I was sold on the shingle wall by the booths, Emily loved the tree growing in the front. Actually by the end of dinner I had totally (mentally) re-decorated our bedroom.

Oh, and the food was delicious. Everyone loved what they ate and MCP went so far as to say that it was the best burger he had ever had. Those are strong words. And if you go you definitely have to have a piece of the Key lime pie. Super tasty. Truth be told, J and I went back for lunch a day later!
Mmm, soothing and dark inside.

J and I trying to decide what to order.
E just having figured out what she wanted.

The best burger MCP has ever had.
My super delicious Caprese salad (with fried capers. Awesome) and yummy garlicky spinach!

And here are some better shots of the restaurant off of their website. (more here as well) Hooray The Woodland!
