Flannels for you

Did I mention that we got new fabric in last week? Yup, 2 delicious Anna Maria Horner flannels and one of her voiles. We also got a super gorgeous Kaffe Fassett plum colored shot cotton that is super soft. (and a solid, I'm trying to remind myself not to get all prints all the time!)

Puppy and leaf

The week between Christmas and New Year's is a sleepy week, don't you think? A week where you would rather be at home lounging than at work. Well, maybe that is just me. But while I try to kick myself back into bon bon rhythm here is a cute pic of a puppy. Carrying a leaf that is as big as he is. I don't know about you, but I think that is pretty damn cute.

Thanks to the blah blah blahg..

More swishy skirts

Speaking of fabulous wardrobes...How to Marry a Millionaire is chock full of eye candy
And it's hilarious..

Swish

I have a new goal (perhaps an early new year's resolution?) I think I need far more Loretta Young-like swishy dresses and skirts in my wardrobe. Check out this montage of the Loretta Young show opening--it is a swishy skirt extravaganza! Apparently Loretta was very strict keeping with the times and wouldn't let her intros go into reruns because she didn't want to appear out of date. Check out this early sixties Loretta dress--isn't it fabulous?

There are few things more satisfying than wearing yards and yards of skirt, it's like you are always going to a party. I already have a few swishy skirts in my closet, but I better start looking for more--Donna, you better keep an eye out for me!

Sajou

To me there is nothing prettier than well packaged sewing notions. I love this French line, Sajou. Maybe I'll spend this afternoon trying to get them to sell to us in KC!

Open until 7!

By the by, you might like to know that we will be open until 7 tonight through Thurs. night for all of your holiday panic induced shopping needs..

Gift Guide!

Have you ever noticed how knitters are totally obsessed with their hobby? E is a knitter and all I hear about is hats, scarves, knit one purl two, and intricate knitting patterns. I don't really mind, but I don't knit so I have no idea what she is talking about most of the time. However, I finally found the perfect gift for her (or any other knitter)..Yarn pint glasses!

How cute are these? And think of how fun it would be to get 6 and have a boozy knitting circle? (or non-boozy if you prefer) Hmm, I would hate to miss out on that--alright, hand me the needles and show me how to do this...

This gift recommended for: Obsessive knitters and crafters who need a cool drink after all that hard work..

And we have mugs!

New headboard!

So, did you hear the rumor that the West Elm in KC is closing and the furniture is on sale? Well, rumor confirmed. All praise J, who having heard the rumor, drove himself out south, went to West Elm and found us the headboard I liked for a deal! That combined with the fact that he canceled his plans last week in case I needed him to hold back my hair while I was sick (I didn't!) makes him the man of the hour. Kudos to you, J.

Stocking Stuffer of the week...

Stocking Stuffer of the Week:
Pocket Mirrors!

Because they are cute, only $8, and you never know when you are going to need to check for spinach in your teeth...

Gift Guide!

Moms-- you love them, but what on earth do you buy for them? Jewelry? perhaps. Clothing? hmm, could be dangerous. Slippers? eh. What about something for the house? Something zippy and useful? Hey, I've got it, how about some locally made coasters! Not just coasters, pretty coasters in awesome prints and colors. Perfect.
Oh, you need something else too? Hmmmm. thinking, thinking...oh! What about a silver magnet board where she can keep all of her lists of things to do, or pictures, or whatnot? Also in pretty colors and awesome prints! Super perfect.
And get her a teatowel too--they are pretty and make people smile.

(note re: coasters/magnet boards--so, we had these last Christmas too and people loved them--there was elbowing, biting and mild hysteria when we were waiting for another shipment--I'm just saying, they are a popular gift)

Anyway, this gift is recommended for: moms, (+in-laws), houseproud friends, listmakers, and hostesses (the party kind, not the air kind)

No Good For Me: Any blog that mentions the Beatles this much and even makes up Beatles themed cocktails is the blog for me!

Gift Guide: MLB jewelry!

So, you know how you always have one fashionable friend who tends to veer towards the darker, stranger, Tim Burtonesque side of life? (Or is that just me, wait, is that me? Oh.) Well, I do (and you know who you are!) and whenever we get in Mama's Little Babies jewelry I think of her. Because, how cool and different is this jewelry? It is made from crazy old Victorian images that have been magically made into necklaces. There are flowers, Victorian dresses, and even fabulous old circus necklaces! (I love old circus images)

Anyway, this gift is recommended for: me, your favorite hair-stylist, your friend that gobbles up all the good fashion magazines, and your sister that has absolutely every other piece of jewelry out there..

New Lusterbunny

Look at the new jewelry we got in from Lusterbunny--not only did we get in a slew of her "classic" jewelry line, but she also brought us some amazing matte black rings and necklaces. You have to come in and try them on, I love how they are so smooth, and I think the black "gem" rings are a total must this winter...

And no, I won't be a hand model anytime soon--I never knew I had such man-hands!

hedgehogs! Uh, yes please!

I know that I'm like a broken record--Liberty this, Liberty that, but hey--everyone has an obsession and it so happens I have two. Just be happy that I only ramble on to you about this, and not the other---you would be bored silly! (although, I do have to say that my fav band ever is playing the superbowl this year, and although I hate football I do love the commercials that are all over the TV--see you are bored already!)

Anyway, look at this adorable stuff that Liberty has up on their site--I love it all, the hedgehog bank especially.....

Frame it.

I saw this over on Decor8 the other day and wanted to show it to you, because I think it is such a lovely example of what you can do with fabric even if you can't sew. Frame it! Use it as art, and you will be able to enjoy your favorite pattern without the work and worry of sewing.

This picture is a framed piece of Heather Ross fabric--we don't have this particular pattern, but we do have a complimentary pattern with unicorns on it..
