Liberty for Target!

My day is made!! Liberty is doing the next designer collection for Target, and apparently it's a big one. There are few things that I will stand in line for, but I'll be lining up early on March 14th. Although, should I station someone at every Target in the area, equipped with phones so I can make sure I don't miss something another store might have? Hmmm...

By the way, isn't Liberty's Luella Christmas window adorable?
Here is the whole story...
Slated to hit stores on March 14, Liberty's offerings will include fashions for men, women and children, home décor, storage, organization and garden. This is considered one of the largest collections Target has launched with an outside brand. Select pieces from the Liberty of London for Target collection will also be available at Liberty of London.

"I am thrilled by the way Target has interpreted the flower power of Liberty by mixing, in a very modern way, our heritage prints with the widest ever range of products from lingerie to design chairs to bicycles," said Geoffroy de La Bourdonnaye, chief executive of Liberty, in a release. "The collection is a very youthful interpretation of the love and rebellion values that Liberty of London stands for."

The 134-year-old Liberty of London is a company steeped in history, yet has managed to remain fashion-relevant. Theory, Sienna Miller's Twenty8twelve and even Kate Moss for Topshop have recently used Liberty prints in their collections.

Here are some bitchin Liberty Fabrics to get your mouth watering...

In recent seasons, Target has been flitting from designer to designer instead of working to develop one signature line to replace Isaac Mizrahi, who designed for categories across the board. With the announcement of the Liberty partnership, however, it seems this could be a contender to fill the hole Mizrahi's departure created.

Now see how the retailer is making holiday shopping painless (while you score pieces from the new Rodarte for Target collection before it hits stores)

I am super excited, I wonder if they'll do a bike?

I read that there would be bikes involved. And even though I haven't ridden a bike, in, oh, I would say 16ish years I will happily take it up again to get a Liberty print one!

Just saw a full page ad in the March issue of InStyle. Flip flops and cute dresses and other great things. Can't wait!

Not sure where you are based, but for the most part, I've found that your average person had no idea what Liberty is. Unless you are a design magazine junkie (guilty!), you have no idea what/when and may happen to purchase it on a whim, not a planned, calculated anticipation of purchase. When the John Derian line came out, I was there with bells on Sunday morning. The stuff sat around in my store for weeks, then went on clearance. I managed to get quite a bit of it. I even drove to a store 100 miles away to get a plate that my local store didn't carry. Now there are two Target stores in my area (I'm in Northwest Arkansas, hello!) I'm happy to be able to drive 20 miles up the road and check out the other store. But can't wait for it to arrive either - T minus 12 days!!

Annie--I like your dedication to the cause! 100 miles for a Target line--that is impressive! I plan on scouting out the Targets Saturday night as well--sometimes they start putting the stuff out early...
