E was fiddling around the internet one day and came across the work of Claire-Anne O'Brien. She immediately emailed her work to me and we ogled it for the rest of the day.
Originally from Ireland Claire-Anne O'Brien studied at the Royal College of Art for textiles. When you look at her work it is obvious that her main interest is knitting. In her knit stools project she exaggerates the craft, really focusing on the stitches themselves.
Aside from the stools being so interesting aesthetically, (not to mention absolutely gorgeous) I think there is something very friendly about them. The knits and loops that she exaggerates suddenly becomes more than just a knitting reference, I think they make the stools have a sheep-like quality themselves. I'm pretty sure that if I was lucky enough to own one of these pieces I would find myself talking to it like a pet.
