KnitKnit
I know we've all seen the fabulous book KnitKnit, and lusted over the zine's, but have you seen what KnitKnit mastermind Sabrina Gschwandtner has been up to lately?
I was checking out her website and fell in love with her film quilt series. She has taken a combination of films, cut the film up, and with processes that included dyeing, painting, bleaching etc. transformed the film pieces into quilt blocks.
The films that she used were a combination of early feminist documentaries and some education documentaries on textile crafts like crocheting, knitting, sewing and quilting. When on display her pieces hang over windows or over light boxes and it's lovely to see the quilt blocks come alive with the light behind them.
Check out more of her work on her website...
